Paula Armoa

JAPAN TOBACCO INTERNATIONAL (JTI)

Paula Armoa has worked at tobacco manufacturer JTI since 2012. During these years she has gained knowledge and experience in the Travel Retail Industry, collaborating with duty free retailers, duty free retailers associations and airport authorities in North and Latin America, Asia and Western Europe. 

Paula counts with a legal background complemented with an MBA, having over 13 years’ professional experience working in many varied sectors such as governmental institutions, legal counseling, tourism marketing consulting and corporate affairs and communication. 

The priority of JTI’s Corporate Affairs function is to enhance the duty free operating environment and to protect its retailers’ international competitiveness vis-à-vis industry general and tobacco specific regulatory developments.

Gustavo Fagundes 2015

Gustavo Fagundes is currently CEO of Dufry Brazil and Bolivia, where previously, in 2006, he served as COO of Dufry South America. 

In his career he held various positions in Brasif, most recently as Operations Vice President, and worked for grand corporations such as AmBev and Accenture

He  graduate in Business Administration and Management by EAESP / Fundação Getúlio Vargas - SP / Brazil, has a Master in International Economics and Management from University of Bocconi in Milan - Italy, Executive MBA by the Corporate University of AmBev , as well as a Certificate in General Management from Harvard Business School.

Sandro Fernandes

Sandro is a generalist executive with more than twenty years of comprehensive marketing, business development, and general management background. 

Mr. Fernandes started his carrier at InBev as Sales and Operations Manager, in São Paulo and cities around, Brazil. 

Later he started work on the Iguatemi Empresa de Shopping Centers, for more the 12 years and his last position was General Manager at Shopping Iguatemi Sao Paulo. 

After this twelve year experience, he was invited to work at Tiffany & Co. as General Manager. 

Following that experience he also worked as CEO on the Loungerie S/A, later he was invited to work as General Manager in the Shopping Leblon

Now a days, since January 2014 he has been the Chief Commercial Officer at RIOgaleão International Airport.

Carlos Loaiza

Mr. Carlos Loaiza Keel has graduated as JD at the University of Montevideo, Uruguay, 2003 (summa cum laude), obtaining an LLM in Taxation (Centro Europeo de Estudios Garrigues, 2007) and an LLM in Corporate Law (Harvard Law School-Centro Europeo de Estudios Garrigues, 2009). 

He started his professional career in Tax & Legal Services, PwC. In 2006 he joined the International Taxation and Transfer Pricing department of Garrigues Abogados y Asesores Tributarios in Madrid, Spain, where he developed an extensive professional practice advising multinational groups, being involved in some of the most relevant deals in the Latin American market. In 2009 he joined the M&A and Taxation department of Barros & Errázuriz, in Santiago de Chile, Chile. 

Carlos Loaiza Keel is profesor of Tax Law and International Taxation in the Law School of the University of Montevideo and Economics School of the University of the Republic. He lectures widely on Tax Law and was designated as a National Reporter for the annual Congress of the International Fiscal Association.  

He has published 5 books and more than 60 articles on his field, and is chief editor and contributor to Consultor Tributario, a specialized monthly supplement on taxes on El Observador, with the sponsorship of Thomson Reuters Group. He currently advises companies, individuals, multilateral banks and the Uruguayan Government in Tax and Corporate matters. 

In 2011 he was appointed as secretary of the Uruguayan Chamber of Duty Free Shops, position from which he regularly defends the sectorial interests before authorities and private agents of the market. 

He leads the Global Alumni project, of the Centro Europeo de Estudios Garrigues and he is a regular columnist for El Observador.

Ec. Carlos Melconian

Mr. Melconian is founder and director of M&S Consultores, one of the most important finance and economics consulting firms in Argentina. As Director of M&S, he provides consulting services to top international and local organizations about the Argentinean and Latin American economic situation. He prepares short to medium term scenarios to evaluate investment decisions. Furthermore, he has led important macroeconomic and industry studies for local and international investors. 

In 2002, he created "Fundación para el Cambio" (Foundation for Change), and entity specialized in analyzing the conditions that directly affect the Argentinean and Latin American economic development and that provide recommendations of policy. Mr. Melconian's experience includes consulting for the World Bank and several governments in the region. 

He has published a number of studies about Argentinean macroeconomics and the external sector, some of them sponsored by the United Nations Development Program. He is also an active publisher in the press about financial and economic topics.  

Mr. Melconian holds an economics degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires and a Master in Economics from Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Argentina.

In 2015, Mr. Melconian becamed the President of Banco Nación Argentina.

Dr. Peter Mohn graduated as a Psychologist and earned a Ph.D. in Business Psychology at the University of Göttingen, Germany. 

Peter is of Norwegian origin, has lived in Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, Finland, UK and Germany and lives in Switzerland since 2002. Peter has been working for various leading global market research agencies since 1993 and has been in top management positions since 2000.  

He has been specializing in Travel Retail research since 2004 and consults various leading brands as well as shop operators in this field.

Martin Moodie

Rene Riedi

Rene Riedi is the RCOO for Region 2 of the Dufry Group of Companies, which covers the Caribbean markets, as well as all Latin American markets with exception of Brazil and Bolivia. Prior to his transfer to the United States in 2012, Mr. Riedi had been in the position of Chief Operating Officer Retail Region Eurasia & Asia, with executive responsibilities for all retail activities in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, CIS and Asia / Pacific. Prior to that, Rene Riedi had been in various commercial positions at the Group’s headquarters. Rene Riedi joined Weitnauer in 1993. In 2004, Weitnauer was acquired by Advent International and the company renamed to Dufry.

Prior to Weitnauer/Dufry, Rene Riedi worked for 6 years in sales and product marketing of a multinational FMCG Group (Unilever).

Rene holds a degree in Business Administration from the School of Economy and Business Administration Zurich.
